Kazuo "Yoshi" Yoshizaki
Yoshi Yoshizaki, RPT graduated from college in Tokyo with a mechanical engineering degree. His love of mechanics met his love of music when he first played a Steinway piano. He started to read books on pianos and about Steinways, in particular. One summer, he was able to attend a three-day introductory course in piano technology with Bill Garlick on Long Island. Afterwards, Yoshi started to service his own piano, and in 1997 he enrolled at North Bennet Street School in Boston. There he studied tuning and regulation in the first year with Jack Stebbins and Christine Lovgren and rebuilding in the second year with David Betts. After the first year, he was selected to be an assistant piano technician at the Tanglewood Music Festival, working under technician/rebuilder Joel Rappaport. He graduated from NBSS with a Golden Mute Award in 1999 and came to work for Concord Piano as an independent contractor in 2006.
